§ Lieut.-Colonel ASHLEYThe Committee met some time ago to consider its new-terms of reference, and decided to invite representatives of bodies and interests which might be affected to submit alternative schemes of taxation for mechanically propelled vehicles. A large number of suggestions have been received, including several elaborate schemes worked out in detail. These proposals are being summarised and classified, and will be submitted to the Committee for their consideration as soon as possible.
