§ Mr. BRIDGEMANI have been asked to reply. The sums paid to the coal mining industry exceeded the sums collected from it (other than taxation) by £25,767,443 in 1919/20, £6,240,217 in 1920/21, and £6,873,883 in 1921/22. Nothing was paid in 1913/14.
