§ Lieut.-Colonel NALLasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the present position regarding the payment of claims for the loss of relatives in the "Lusitania"?
Mr. YOUNGI would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the statement which I made in presenting the Supplementary Estimate of £100,000 for grants for Compensation for Damage by Enemy Action on the 23rd February last. An Estimate for a further sum of £4,900,000 for the current financial year has been presented (Unclassified Services: Vote 16) and grants are being made by the Treasury in accordance with the recommendations of the Royal Commission on Compensation for Suffering and Damage by Enemy Action. Up to the present the Commission have only been able to deal with certain specially necessitous cases.
