BRAMSDONasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether he will consider instituting a 2536W system of naval water transport to the various home ports for the regular leave periods of those petty officers and men who are stationed at Rosyth, Port Edgar, and in the Firth of Forth, in view of the recent withdrawal of the cheap travelling concessions, and the heavy drain on the finances of the men who are desirous of taking advantage of the Admiralty scale of leave, in order that they may visit their families during their period of so-called home service?
§ Mr. AMERYThe Admiralty regret that these facilities cannot be provided. As far as possible, volunteers living in the neighbourhood are being selected for duty in the areas in question, and this is the utmost the Admiralty can do without incurring large expenditure.
