THOMSONasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether any medals or other decorations have been granted to officers, non-commissioned officers, and other ranks of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, or other units connected with the Admiralty who did not serve overseas or afloat and were engaged solely at Home on shore; and, if so, for what duties?
§ Mr. AMERYOnly the British War Medal has been awarded to all officers and men who performed 28 days' mobilised approved service between the 5th August, 1914, and the 11th November, 1918, both dates inclusive, irrespective of where the service was performed or the nature of the duties. Other decorations and medals not of the nature of War medals were awarded for specific services of a special character rendered by officers and men at Home on shore, in cases where the Regulations laid down for the particular decoration or medal permitted.
