Colonel NEWMANasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, having regard to the fact that, with the exception of the Lord Lieutenant, the Chief Secretary, the Irish Land Commission, and the Royal Irish Constabulary, no provision is made for Irish services outside of Northern Ireland for the forthcoming financial year, he will say if a Grant-in-Aid or Grant-on-Account will be made to the Provisional Government; if so, what will be the amount; and will the Grant be open to be debated by the House?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLNo, Sir. As from the 1st April, if the Irish Free State (Agreement) Bill has by then become law, as I hope will be the case, the Provisional Government will arrange for the collection of its own revenue and no Grant-in-Aid will be required. The remainder of the question does not therefore arise.
