HC Deb 21 March 1922 vol 152 cc282-3W
Mr. SIMM

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport how the estimate of £8,475,000 as the net revenue accruing to the Road Fund from the Motor Tax Account for the calendar year 1921 is arrived at?

Mr. NEAL

The answer to my hon. Friend's question is given in the statement which follows. I may point out that the costs of collection, which are estimated at £400,000 are inevitably somewhat high, as the year 1921 marked the inception of a new system of taxation. It is anticipated that the charges under this head will show an appreciable reduction in 1922.
