§ Viscount WOLMERasked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the reversal of the Government's agricultural policy, he will consider the desirability of appointing a Commission to report upon what methods should be adopted in order to safeguard the nation's food supply in time of war?
§ Major BARNSTONI have been asked to reply. The question of the food supply in time of war was considered by a Royal Commission under the chairmanship of Lord Balfour of Burleigh in 1905, and, so far as home production is concerned, by a Departmental Committee under the chairmanship of Lord Milner in 1915. In view of the information obtained by those inquiries and of the experience gained during the War, the Government do not think it necessary to set up a fresh Commission to inquire into the question.
