Mr. M. WILSONasked the President of the Board of Education what disabilities, if any, would be incurred by a local education authority which, in the interests of the taxpayers and ratepayers in its area, elected to adopt the recommendations of the Committee on National Expenditure relative to the cost of teaching where existing expenditure was regarded by such authority as excessive?
§ Mr. FISHERIt is impossible for me to answer a hypothetical question of so general a character. It would always be the duty of the Board to see that provision was made by the local education authority to carry on the public service of education efficiently, and so as to yield an adequate return for the expenditure of public funds.
