§ Mr. PERKINSasked the President of the Board of Trade whether the Government proposes to introduce a Bill to give effect to the recommendations of the Water Power Resources Committee, or whether any other Departmental action will be taken with the same object?
1805W
§ Mr. BALDWINThe Government do not see their way at present to introduce legislation dealing with the control of water power developments or constituting a Water Commission, as proposed by the Water Power Resources Committee, but the Minister of Health has taken certain administrative measures and is setting up an Inter-Departmental Committee, as recommended by the Committee, to coordinate the work of the several Departments responsible for the different water interests. The minor recommendations of the Committee cover a very wide field, and the manner in which it is proposed to deal with the various suggestions cannot easily be explained in an answer to a Parliamentary question. Perhaps the hon. Member will communicate with me as regards the points which he has more particularly in mind.
