§ Mr. SHORTTMatrons who escort female prisoners are paid according to the length of time for which they are employed, up to a maximum of 10s. for 24 hours' duty. The duty for which a matron would receive 10s. would cost in the case of a woman patrol, for pay, subsistence and lodging allowances, 29s. 11d.
