HC Deb 02 March 1922 vol 151 cc584-5W
Mr. T. THOMSON

asked the President of the Board of Education how many classes in public elementary schools in England and Wales contain 40, 50, and 60, or more scholars respectively; and whether the educational results obtained are as satisfactory as those obtained where the classes contain less than 40 scholars?

Mr. LEWIS

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which my right hon. Friend gave on the 24th February to the hon. Member for the Sutton Division of Plymouth (Viscountess Astor). It is impossible to give any general reply to the latter part of the question.
