§ Captain BOWYERasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, whether he is aware that many old age pensioners dare not cultivate their allotments after they become widowers for fear lest ninepence a week should be stopped from their pensions; and if there is any Regulation in force to this effect?
§ Sir J. BAIRDI presume that the hon. and gallant Member refers to the recalculation of an old age pensioner's means which has to be made when his wife dies in order to determine to what rates of pension (if any) he is then entitled. If the hon. and gallant Member has any special case in mind and will send me particulars, I will have inquiry made.
