Mr. MALONEasked the President of the Board of Trade if he will state what attitude the Government directors of the Anglo-Persian Oil Company will be instructed to adopt towards any applications by British colliery owners who may wish to have oil produced by the destructive distillation of their coal refined at Llandar[...]y refinery, two-thirds of which is owned by the British taxpayer?
§ Mr. BRIDGEMANThis is a matter of commercial policy, and I am informed that as His Majesty's Government has undertaken not to interfere in the commercial management of the Anglo-Persian Oil Company, no special instructions to the Government directors will be given in regard to it. I have no reason to believe that the company would be unwilling to consider any proposals that may be made to them by British collieries in regard to refining oils obtained from coal.
