§ Mr. LYLEasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether his attention has been called to the criticisms of the methods of commerce and taxation in British West Africa, whereby it is alleged that the enterprise of the native is being killed; whether official information corroborates this view; and, if so, what effort is being made to restore prosperity on the West Coast, which has normally been of a very encouraging nature?
