Mr. MALONEasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that a reduction of one per cent, in the interest on the internal debt would effect an annual saving in national expenditure of over £65,000,000; and whether, in view of the critical state of the national finances, he will consider introducing this economy as an alternative to the economies in social services proposed by the Geddes Report?
