§ Mr. FISHERThe annual cost of the inspection by the Board of Elementary Schools in England is at present rates £210,200. I am unable to state separately what is the cost of the Board's inspection of elementary schools in Wales; the staff engaged on this work is also responsible for the inspection of secondary and technical schools, etc., in Wales. The total annual cost of the Board's inspection of all grades of education in Wales is at present £24,400. The expenditure of local education authorities upon inspection forms part of their general expenditure on administration. I have not the details which would enable me to answer this part of the question.
