§ Mr. FISHERThe information in the Board's possession relating to the cost of public elementary education and to the salaries of teachers in Switzerland is not sufficiently recent to afford a basis of useful comparison with present expenditure and salaries in this country. As regards the second part of the question, I do not know what the hon. and gallant Member has in mind. Each of the 25 Swiss Cantons has control of the education in its area, and the system varies considerably from Canton to Canton.
