§ Sir M. BARLOWThe deficiency on the Unemployment Fund is at the present date approximately £11,600,000 out of a borrowing power of £20,000,000. The weekly receipts of the Unemployment Fund would balance the weekly expenditure if unemployment dropped to a figure of about 1,250,000. Any further improvement would put the Fund in a position to begin to liquidate its debt.
