§ Mr. A. M. SAMUELasked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any progress has been made towards the recognition of the Government of Mexico by His Majesty's Government; and whether he is aware that the delay in recognition operates as a clog on British export trade?
Mr. HARMSWORTHI regret that it has not been found possible to make any further progress in this matter. The reduction in the export trade is general, and I have no reason to believe that the recognition by His Majesty's Government of the Mexican Government would have saved our trade with that country from the difficulties which have been met with elsewhere.
