§ Sir JOHN BAIRDInformation as to the amount of the Education Rate actually levied in each parish for the current financial year is not at present available. The annexed statement, however, shows the amounts requisitioned from each parish for the current year and for the year 1918–19 for education purposes. These figures probably furnish a better basis of comparison than the actual amounts levied by the parish councils, which may be affected by debit or credit balances at the beginning of the year as well as by the grants in relief of agricultural rates and Government contributions in lieu of rates.
