§ Dr. CHAPPLEasked the Minister of Labour whether amongst the works to be stimulated by credit grants in the interests of the unemployed he will consider the repair and restoration of the Solway viaduct, now out of use and becoming derelict, to the great inconvenience and loss of the people?
§ Lieut.-Colonel ASHLEYI have been asked to reply. The question of the restoration of this viaduct is one for the Caledonian Railway Company. Some time ago the railway company had the matter under consideration, but came to the conclusion that, in the circumstances then prevailing, they would not be justified in incurring the expense involved. I will, however, communicate with them again and let the hon. Gentleman know the result.
