HOLBROOKasked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to statements that there is some intention not to confine sales at the British Empire Exhibition to the products and manufactures of the Empire, but to extend them to those of other countries: and whether, having regard to the guarantee given by His Majesty's Government, he will insist that only goods produced and manufactured within the Empire shall be sold at the exhibition?
§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSAs I informed the hon. Member for Cardiff Central (Mr. Gould) yesterday, I have been invited by my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade, with the full concurrence of the British Empire Exhibition, to investigate questions which have arisen with regard to the use of materials and supplies of Empire origin and other matters in order that the Government and Parliament may be placed in possession of the true facts of the case. Perhaps my hon. and gallant Friend will be prepared to await the result of my inquiries.
