Mr. DIXONasked the Minister of Agriculture if large quantities of potatoes, mean, and other agricultural produce are being sold by foreigners in the English market by auction; and if, after they have been so sold in the open market to the benefit of the consumer, he will collect from the auctioneers a percentage charge before payment is made over to the foreign importer, the amount so collected to be used in relief of agricultural rates and taxes?
§ Sir R. SANDERSI do not think the method of relieving agricultural rates suggested by the hon. Member is a practical one, and in any case it would involve legislation of a controversial character.
