§ Mr. HARRISONasked the Prime Minister whether it is proposed to reappoint the Geddes Committee, or some similar body, to conduct an immediate inquiry into the possibility of further economies in public expenditure; and whether powers will be given to this Committee to make inquiries into, and recommendations with regard to, matters of policy which involve expenditure?
§ The PRIME MINISTERIt is not proposed to reappoint such a Committee. The late Government appointed two Ministerial Committees to investigate the possibility of further economies in public expenditure and the present Government are continuing their researches.
