§ Sir W. de FRECEasked the Home Secretary what information is now required by the authorities from visitors staying at hotels and inns; and whether, provided accommodation exists, it is incumbent on all hotel and inn keepers to provide such accommodation for would-be visitors, even if they refuse to fill up forms absolving the proprietors of these establishments from all responsibility for property stolen?
§ Mr. BRIDGEMANAs far as my jurisdiction goes, the requirements in this matter are contained in Article 7 of the Aliens Order, 1920, and are designed solely to obtain information as to the nationality of all visitors and certain further particulars in regard to those who are aliens. As regards the second part of the question, I presume the hon. Member has in mind the remarks of Mr. Justice Hor-ridge in a recent divorce case. The point is one of law on which I have no authority to make any pronouncement.
