asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies what moneys have been received by the Colony of Hong Kong for the years 1919–20, 1920–21, and 1921–22 in respect of the tax payable on the paid-up capital of China companies. as provided for by Section 7, Sub-section (4), of the Hong Kong Ordinance, No. 31 of 1915; and whether such moneys are credited to the revenue of the colony or to the revenue of this country and, if the latter, where the reference can be found?

The amounts received by the Colony of Hong Kong in respect of China Companies Fees, in the years 1919, 1920 and 1921, were $93,991, $121,608 and $53,380, respectively. These moneys are credited to the general revenues of the Colony, out of which a sum of $3,000 is paid annually towards the cost of the China Companies Registry at Shanghai.
