HC Deb 04 December 1922 vol 159 c1235W
Mr. PIELOU

asked the Minister of Pensions whether a man discharged from the service with a disability, having served 14 years with the Colours and Reserve, is eligible under Article 1163 of the Royal Warrant to a disability pension of 8d. per day for life; and whether a man transferred to Class Z Reserve, even though he may have suffered a disability and has been pensioned for the same for a number of years, is eligible or not to this award?

Major TRYON

Pension under Article 1163 of the Royal Warrant of 1914 can only be awarded to a man (with a total service of not less than 14 years with the Colours and Army Reserve) discharged from the Colours as medically unfit for further service under paragraph 392 (XVI) of King's Regulations, or transferred to Class P of the Army Reserve. A man transferred to Class Z Reserve (i.e., demobilised) is not eligible for pension under this Article, even though he may have claimed to be suffering from a disability on demobilization.
