§ Mr. GILBERTasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if he will give the list and amounts of grants or guarantees given under the Trade Facilities Act which will help unemployment in London and the Greater London area; and whether further applications from these areas are still under consideration?
Mr. YOUNGThe Treasury have guaranteed, or have expressed their willingness, to give guarantees in respect of the following schemes in the London area:
The whole of the above amounts will not be expended on labour in London, as some of the money will be used for the purchase of machinery and materials manufactured in other parts of the country. On the other hand, it is probable that, as a result of other guarantees, a certain number of contracts will be placed in London.
