Major BARNESasked the Minister of Labour by what the amount of the Appropriation-in-Aid of the expenditure of his Ministry is estimated to be increased by the substitution of one-eighth for one-tenth of the amount of the Insurance Fund allowed to be so appropriated?
§ Dr. MACNAMARAIt is estimated that for the year 1922–23 the total administrative cost of Unemployment Insurance will be, not the maximum of one-eighth authorised under Section 8 of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1922, but about 11 per cent. The increase in the Appropriation-in-Aid beyond the amount which would have been available under the former maximum of one-tenth is approximately £424,000, which would otherwise have had to be borne entirely by the Exchequer.
