HC Deb 11 April 1922 vol 153 cc246-7W
Mr. HAYDAY

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether his attention has been drawn to the condition of Catterick Aerodrome; whether he is aware that many huts are going to ruin; that brick and cement hangars remain in an un- finished state, and are rotting; that iron framework, designed for windows, is being used to fill up gaps in hedges; and whether, in view of the fact that these huts and buildings are occupying the best pre-War farm land, he will have inquiries made as to the possibility of restoring the land to agriculture?

Sir R. SANDERS

This aerodrome is at present in the hands of the War Department, and I have therefore been asked to answer this question. I am aware that some of the buildings are delapidated and that a hangar is unfinished, but all the buildings at present required have been maintained in good repair. It is proposed to throw up the aerodrome to the Disposal and Liquidation Commission at an early date.

Mr. M. WILSON

asked the Secretary of State for War whether the aerodrome at Catterick, Yorks, is shortly to be dismantled or whether any steps are to be taken to preserve the property from further depreciation in value?

Sir R. SANDERS

It is proposed to hand over the buildings on Catterick Aerodrome to the Disposal and Liquidation Commission at an early date.
