§ Mr. LUNNasked the Minister of Health if his attention has been drawn to reports that, in his opinion, a one-roomed dwelling provides sufficient accommodation for eating, sleeping, washing, cooking, and nursing for a married couple; and will the future policy of the Ministry be to recommend local authorities to build one-roomed houses for newly married couples?
§ Sir A. MONDI have on no occasion expressed the opinion to which the hon. Member refers. I have never laid down any standard of accommodation required by newly-married couples. The policy of the Ministry has been, and will continue to be, to lay down a suitable standard of housing accommodation for the needs of the people. I am much obliged to the hon. Member for the opportunity he has given me of contradicting the reports to which he alludes.
