§ Mr. KENNEDYasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is in a position to state an approximate date on which the first reparation receipts from Germany are likely to be allocated to the Exchequer of the United Kingdom; and at what date he anticipates that funds will be available, after meeting the cost of the Armies of Occupation, out of which compensation for war damage can be made?
Mr. YOUNGAs stated in the reply given to the right hon. Member for Deptford (Mr. Bowerman) on the 25th ultimo, I am unable to state when reparation receipts from Germany (over and above the cost of the British Army of Occupation) will be allocated to the United Kingdom; consequently I cannot say when the sum of £5,000,000 to be distributed out of the first of such receipts as compensation in respect of suffering and damage by enemy action will be available.
