Captain BENNasked the President of the Board of Trade what are the total German imports for the period since the coming into force of the Safeguarding of Industries Act, and for a similar period prior to its enforcement?
§ Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSONIn view of the expense involved in the preparation of monthly totals of trade with individual countries, such totals are only compiled quarterly. The figures relating to imports consigned from Germany 619W during the third quarter of the present year, with corresponding figures for 1920 and 1913, were published yesterday in the Monthly Accounts relating to Trade and Navigation of the United Kingdom. The figures for the fourth quarter of the year will probably be available about the end of January next.
