Sir R. HALLasked the Home Secretary if he will state the salary of the late Commissioner of Police, Sir Nevil Macready whether any change has been made in the amount of the salary paid to the present Commissioner; and, if so, when and why?
§ Mr. SHORTTSir Nevil Macready received a special salary of £3,250 per annum. The salary of the present Commissioner was raised as from 1st March, 1920, from £2,000 to £3,000 on the recommendation of the Committee, under the chairmanship of the right hon. Gentleman the Member for Paisley (Mr. Asquith), appointed by the Treasury to advise them as to the emoluments which should attach to the principal posts in the Civil Service.
