HC Deb 31 May 1921 vol 142 c853W
Captain FITZROY

asked the Minister of Health why the annual charges for principal and interest payable on loans for purposes of drainage and water supply in connection with housing schemes for the borough of Buckingham are allowed to rank for purposes of the Government housing subsidy, while similar payments in respect of a loan for similar purposes in the adjacent borough of Brackley are not allowed to rank for the subsidy?

Sir A. MOND

The cost of works which a council are under an obligation to carry out as a sanitary authority under the Public Health Acts is not a proper charge against an Assisted Housing Scheme. This principle has been followed in the case of Brackley and will apply also to Buckingham.
