HC Deb 24 May 1921 vol 142 cc56-7W
Mr. REMER

asked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been called to the refusal of the Liquor Control Board to allow the Macclesfield Cricket Club to have a licence to serve on Satur- day afternoons; whether he is aware that all the hotels in that borough have facilities for serving alcohol on Saturday afternoons; and whether he can state the date on which the Board met in order to arrive at this decision, and the names of the members of the Board who attended on that occasion?

Mr. SHORTT

I understand that, on the facts put before them in support of the club's application, it would have been contrary to the Board's usual practice to grant the extension of hours applied for, and that any facilities granted by Justices to local hotels is not properly relevant to the matter. As regards the publication of the proceedings of the Board, I would refer my hon. Friend to answers previously given, particularly to the answer which I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Stafford (Mr. Ormsby-Gore) on the 12th instant.
