HC Deb 24 May 1921 vol 142 cc54-5W
Mr. SWAN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has any definite information as to the massacre in Tantah on 29th April; whether the only reason for the same was that after prayers a demonstration took place at 12.30 p.m., and those in same shouted, "Long live Saad!" "No president of the negotiations but Saad!" and "Saad has our confidence!" and whether they never said, "Down with the Government!" or any such thing, and that the demonstration was perfectly peaceful and the chief object of the demonstration was a protest against Adly not accepting Zaghloul Pasha's terms, particularly the term respecting the presidency of the negotiations, to him?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

I have no information on the subject beyond that which I gave to the hon. Member in reply to his question of the 6th instant.
