§ Mr. ALLEN PARKINSONasked the Chief Secretary whether, in view of the award by the Recorder of Cork of £134,250 compensation for the destruction of the municipal buildings by Forces of the Crown, over whom the ratepayers have no control, he will recommend the House to make good the destruction out of the public Treasury instead of out of the rates paid by the citizens whose property has been destroyed?
§ Sir H. GREENWOODSo far as I am aware the learned Recorder, in giving his award, made no statement such as the first part of the question would seem to suggest implicating the Crown Forces. In regard to the general question of compensation for malicious damage I am not at present in a position to add anything to what I have already said.
