HC Deb 01 March 1921 vol 138 cc1638-9W
Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

asked the Minister of Health whether the salary of the Registrar-General is fixed by Statute at £1,250 per annum; what salary, excluding War bonus, is being received at present by the Registrar-General; whether he receives a War bonus or any allowances in addition to salary; and, if so, what?

Dr. ADDISON

The salary fixed by Statute for the post of Registrar-General is £1,200 a year; in addition, War bonus of £750 is payable. Under arrangements made with the Treasury the functions of the Registrar-General have been placed under the control of the Minister of Health and the duties of the Registrar-General have been assigned to one of the principal Assistant-Secretaries of the Ministry. This officer is on the scale of salary sanctioned for his grade, viz.: £1,200, rising to £1,500, with £750 War bonus. The salary allowed under the Statute to the Registrar-General is meanwhile in abeyance.
