HC Deb 01 March 1921 vol 138 c1620W
Mr. WATERSON

asked the Chief Secretary (1) the total amount of compensation awarded for malicious injury in Ireland during last year, giving the amount paid by the local authorities, the amount paid by the Treasury, and the amount still to be paid;

(2) the total number of claims made for malicious damage in Ireland during the last year, giving figures as to those already decided upon; the number of cases dismissed; and how many are pending for final decision?

Mr. HENRY

These particulars are not readily available, but steps are being taken to obtain them. In the case of local authorities who are not paying these awards, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given by me to the hon. and gallant Member for Bury St. Edmunds (Lieut.-Colonel Guinness) on the 24th ultimo.
