§ Sir J. BAIRDI have been asked by the Prime Minister to answer this question. He has received the resolution mentioned, and he sympathises with the resentment felt by the people of Thaxted with regard to the conduct of their vicar; but since the latter appears to have confined himself to expressions of opinion, and used no language calculated to incite to violence, no action can be taken by the Government.
