HC Deb 20 June 1921 vol 143 cc905-6W
Mr. MYERS

asked the Lord Privy Seal whether at a special meeting of the Manchester City Council on Wednesday last a resolution was carried urging the Government to suspend the increase of rent due to commence in July under the Increase of Rent and Mortgage Interest (Restrictions) Act until the industrial situation in the country becomes more normal and unemployment less acute; and whether he will take steps to give effect to the expressed opinion of this important local authority?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

Yes, Sir; I have seen the resolution referred to, but I can- not add anything to the answer given by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister on the 26th May in reply to a question by the hon. and gallant Member for Central Hull (Lieut.-Commander Ken-worthy).
