§ Sir A. HOLBROOKasked the Minister of Labour if he is aware that the new rates of wages submitted to him by the Grocery and Provision Trade Board were approved by a majority of only three votes, 28 voting for and 25 against the proposed increase; that when these rates were so approved the cost of living was 175 per cent. above 1914 whereas at this time the cost has fallen to 128 per cent. above 1914; and that should these rates be confirmed it would not only mean an immediate increase in the cost of food to the public but would add to the unemployment difficulty: and whether, in the circumstances, he will consider the desirability of not confirming the rates but will refer them back to the Board for reconsideration?
§ Sir M. BARLOWI would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the answers, of which I am sending him copies, given on 8th and 14th June to questions on this matter.
