HC Deb 15 June 1921 vol 143 c432W
Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether any new instructions have been issued to Government Departments regarding the categories of civil servants who are allowed to travel first-class at public expense; and whether the Estimates of the various Departments will be reviewed forthwith with a view to reducing the amounts allowed for travelling expenses?

Mr. YOUNG

I have been asked to reply. No fresh general instructions have been issued in regard to this matter, which is still under consideration. The Estimates of all Departments are kept constantly under review in order to ensure economy in this respect.
