HC Deb 15 June 1921 vol 143 cc448-9W
Sir J. REMNANT

asked the Home Secretary whether, in view of the fact that a constable who retires on a medical certificate has on his parchment only a record as to his character, he will consider the question of advising the authorities to furnish the pensioner with a copy of the police surgeon's certificate, as it is difficult for pensioners to supplement their small pensions by obtaining employment when the prospective employer is in ignorance of the nature of the complaint which rendered the pensioner unfit for police duty?

Sir J. BAIRD

My right hon. Friend is not prepared to recommend the adoption of this course, as in many cases it would not be in the interests of the pensioner, and many men would object strongly.
