HC Deb 15 June 1921 vol 143 c431W
Sir S. HOARE

asked the Chief Secretary whether out of 30 ex-service men who were given notice by the Irish branch of the Inland Revenue on account of the Custom House fire in Dublin only four have been reinstated, while all the Civil Service girl clerks have been reappointed at Jury's Hotel and the Four Courts; and, if this is the case, why preference has not been given to ex-service men?

Mr. YOUNG

My hon. and gallant Friend is under a misapprehension. It has been found necessary to continue in their employment substantially the whole of the temporary staff formerly engaged on Inland Revenue work at the Custom House, Dublin.
