HC Deb 15 June 1921 vol 143 c436W
Captain W. BENN

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether the German Government has yet announced officially its intention to reimburse German exporters for the deductions made under the German Reparation (Recovery) Act?

Mr. YOUNG

Yes, Sir.

Sir H. NIELD

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if the French or Belgian Governments, having passed legislation on the lines of the German Reparation (Recovery) Act, have yet taken steps to levy the 26 per cent. reparation duty on goods entering France and Belgium from Germany; and, if this has not yet been done, will he have the matter inquired into, seeing that British importers are called upon to make the payments under the Acts and are making them?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

I have no precise information on the point. Enquiries are being made.
