Lieut.-Colonel A. MURRAYasked the Secretary for Scotland whether on Friday last, in company with the Minister for Agriculture, he had an interview with representatives of the Highland Society, the Scottish Farmers' Union, and other representatives of the agriculture industry in Scotland, and made to them a statement explaining the Government's attitude with regard to the proposed repeal of Part I. of the Agricultural Act, 1920; whether this interview was of a confidential nature; and whether he will now make a statement to the House similar to that made to the above-mentioned representatives of the Scottish agricultural industry?
§ Mr. MUNROIn company with the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, I had a conference on Friday last with representatives of the Highland and Agricultural Society and of the National Farmers' Union of Scotland. The conference was private, as its purpose was to discuss with representative agriculturalists the policy of the Government regarding the Agriculture Act. As that policy has been already announced in this House, it is unnecessary that I should make a further statement on the subject.
