HC Deb 02 June 1921 vol 142 c1257W
Mr. JAMES WILSON

asked the Chief Secretary whether he is aware that, in consequence of the shutting down by the military of the Schull and Skibbereen Light Railway in County Cork, a number of railway men have been thrown out of employment for two months, and great hardship has been inflicted upon the people residing in the area served by this railway; and whether, in the circumstances, he will sanction the re-opening of this line?

Sir H. GREENWOOD

I am informed that the Military Governor closed this railway because the roads in the district were constantly cut. When the inhabitants have repaired the roads the railway will be re-opened, but not before.
